Light pole falls in Kohl’s parking lot

Wind knocked over a light pole in the parking lot of a West Allis Kohl’s Department Store on Friday, damaging five vehicles that were parked there.

Someone was in one of the cars, but nobody was injured, reports the Journal Sentinel’s Gitte Laasby, who tweeted from the scene.

The incident happened at about 2 p.m. in the midst of a busy Black Friday shopping day.

The store is at 2601 S. 108th St.

The National Weather Service reports on its website that the wind at Mitchell International Airport just before 2 p.m. was from the northwest at 26 mph, gusting to 35 mph.
