According to an online statement by al Qaeda, one of their senior commanders has been killed by a U.S. drone strike this week.
A U.S. official confirmed that al-Ansi was recently killed, but would not confirm that it was a drone that carried out the attack.
al-Ansi was the senior commander who proudly announced in a lengthy statement that al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula was responsible for the Charlie Hebdo shooting in Paris, which killed twelve cartoonist, editors, and staffers for their magazine. The world is a slightly safer place today, good riddance.
