Philippines-At least four people to include a two-year old girl were confirmed dead and eight others seriously wounded when a drunk man ran amok about 7 p.m. on Sunday in Brgy. Cantutang, Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte.
Police identified the dead as Maria Feliselda, 56; Princess Jabonero, 23; Roger Fajardo Salim, 39; and Leslie Ann Caindoy, 2 .
The eight wounded were Maximo Talero, 56; Georgia Jabonero, 15; Aiza Salim Caindoy, 24; Genara Chu, 47; Zenaida Aguelo, 62; Joy joy Sinselia, 18; Love Joy Acabu, 21; and April Rose Salim, 13.
SPO1 Reynaldo Aguelo of the Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (SLPPO)-Operations division duty-officer identified the suspect as Mark Jonnie Pelin, legal age, single and a construction worker of the said barangay.
In an initial police investigation, Pelin was allegedly under the influence of liquor when he started attacking the victims who were identified as his neighbors using a bladed weapon locally known as “sundang.”
Victims were immediately brought to the provincial hospital in Maasin city, while the suspect is now under the custody of the Padre Burgos municipal police office thru PSInsp. Delfin Dumandan Tan, chief of police, for further investigation.
Families of the victims are now executing their complaint affidavits against the suspect.
