Form your own team
Most puzzle rooms with a capacity of ~10 allow people to purchase only a partial amount of the tickets of the room. The result of this is that teams are formed consisting of a group of strangers, only pockets of which know each other. This is not the best setup.
Communicate
The #1 largest inefficiency that happens in escape rooms is when Person A has a component and forgets about it, and Person B needs a component and doesn’t know that it exists. Had Person A and Person B talked to each other about the component, Person B could have solved a puzzle and stopped a key bottleneck in the team.
Parallelize
Teams of 10x people can potentially achieve 10x the amount than 1 person can, but only if every person is able to contribute to the success of the team. This only works when teams work in parallel. This is most important in the first half of an escape room game, where there are many smaller puzzles that are needed in order to unlock larger and more important puzzles.
