Daytime running lights (DRLs) are brilliant white lights that can be easily seen by other drivers and pedestrians during the daylight hours. They turn on automatically when the ignition is started and while all other lights remain off. If the DRLs are retrofitted, they should be installed so that they turn on when the car is started and turn off when the regular headlights are turned on. For some models, the DRLs are very close to the turn signal lights. If this is the case, the DRLs must be turned off while the turn signal light is being used.
